What to expect from our treatments?

The clinic is set in a relaxing environment and practitioners are fully qualified and professional. An average session lasts 45-60 minutes. We will discuss your condition and progress briefly each session before starting treatment.

The number of treatments required varies and depends on your condition. You may need one treatment or ongoing maintenance over a period of weeks or months. During your first session we can give you an idea of how many sessions are likely required.

We provide a gentle style of acupuncture. Patients are often surprised how little discomfort they experience. We use sterile needles that are only used once then we dispose of them safely. We use other techniques alongside acupuncture to make the treatment more successful.

Types of therapy used

With a range of skills and tools at our fingertips we are able to combine a diverse array of therapies. Acupuncture is by far our most popular and commonly utilised therapy, though we often combine this with one or two of the techniques listed below. It is the combination of these that makes our treatments so enjoyable. Here is a brief description of each of these:

Very fine single use sterile needles are inserted into the skin. They are left in for 10-20 minutes during which the patient relaxes. We practice a very gentle style of Japanese acupuncture. Japanese acupuncture techniques are simple without causing major discomfort.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Herbs come in various formats to suit you - granules, pills or capsules. These formats are not difficult to take and are conveniently packaged. Each herbal formula is tailored to your individual needs to address your condition at that time. We NEVER uses products which may harm or endanger a species, be it plant or animal.

A warming therapy using a special form of a Chinese herb which has a gentle yet penetrating warming effect. This is often combined with acupuncture to increase the effect of the treatment. We prefer to use smokeless moxa unless in a very well ventilated environment.

A technique used to regulate blood circulation and increase metabolism of dead waste in the cells. Specially designed glass cups are used to create a suction over a specific area. The results are fast and powerful. Great for longstanding injuries, pain and poor circulation. Invaluable for back and shoulder problems and for muscle tightness and pain.

Gua Sha

Similar in effect to cupping but is more versatile to access different regions of the body. Regulates blood circulation and encourages healing.

Renowned throughout many cultures for it's healing and relaxing abilities. Excellent for joint and muscular problems.  Massage is incorporated into our treatments regularly. Massage combines magnificently with acupuncture, cupping and gua sha.
